Jose Rizal, the face of the Philippines

Image
Jose Rizal’s greatest gift to the Philippines was helping all Filipinos see themselves as one nation. Before he came along, people mostly thought of themselves as from their own town or region – not as part of a single country. He worked to bring everyone together, showing us that we share the same history, culture, and hopes for a better future.   He used books instead of weapons to make things better. His stories like Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo told the truth about how hard life was under Spanish rule. They showed the bad things some people in power were doing, but also how strong and smart Filipinos are. These books spread across the country, even in secret, and made people start asking why things had to stay the same.   Rizal also taught us what it means to be a good Filipino. He said education is important, that we should work hard, and respect our traditions. He believed everyone should be treated fairly – men and women, rich and poor. Even today, his l...

Witnessing the Beauty of Festival in Vigan

Image
Each year, the historic city of Vigan holds a party for the Feast of St. Paul’s Change of Heart, there’s always happiness, contests, and many exciting things to watch. Me and my friends went to Vigan on a bright day to see the street dance in the afternoon. Students from grade school up to high school were in the march, and they danced really great. We didn’t just watch, we shouted loudly for our school, ISNHS, as they did their act with bright outfits and easy, flowing steps. We didn’t get to see their Longganisa Festival battle, but we still felt happy when we found out they got the top prize.  The street dance was so cool to watch. The young dancers practiced a lot, and you could see it from how they moved in perfect time with each other. I took good pictures of every group as they walked past the water fountain that moves to music and the city building. Everyone were clapping their hands, singing along, and cheering for every team. The music was loud and happy, and you co...

Reflection Q3

Image
What I went through this quarter was hard, but I made it. There were so many times I wanted to stop trying, especially when there was too much work and I couldn’t understand what we were learning. Some days I stayed up late just to finish assignments, and I felt really tired the next morning. But I kept going because I know it matters for my future. I didn’t want to let myself or my family down.   I picked up a lot of new things and found out more about myself. I learned how to work with new tools for our projects, like the computer program we used to make posters. I also discovered that I’m better at explaining things to classmates than I thought – when they didn’t get a lesson, I could break it down so it was easier to understand. I also realized that studying with friends helps me remember lessons better. We quiz each other and make learning feel less like a chore. Plus, I found out I’m good at organizing our study sessions.   There were problems and hard parts too. I often...

Celebration of the Christmas Season in Its Essence

Image
Celebration of the Christmas Season in Its Essence The Christmas season is a time of joy, love, and peace. People feel happy as lights shine everywhere and Christmas songs are heard. It is a special time when families and friends come together to celebrate and share moments of happiness. Christmas is also about giving. Giving does not always mean gifts; it can be kindness, help, or time spent with others. Sharing food, helping the needy, and showing care to one another show the true meaning of Christmas. Family is very important during Christmas. Families gather to eat together, pray, and enjoy traditions. These simple moments bring comfort and make everyone feel loved and thankful. In its essence, Christmas teaches love and hope. It reminds people to forgive, to be kind, and to help others. Even after Christmas ends, its true spirit stays in the hearts of people.                  References:             ...
