Elpidio Quirino: A Leader Who Served the People   Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines, was a leader who always wanted to help the country. He believed in making the Philippines strong and independent. He was born in a small town in Ilocos Sur and grew up knowing what it was like to work hard. This made him want to help all Filipinos. He went from being a teacher to becoming President because he was smart, worked hard, and cared about his country.   Quirino started working for the government in the House of Representatives. He was good at making laws and always stood up for what was fair. Later, he became a senator, a member of the President's team, and the Vice President under President Manuel Roxas. He learned a lot about how to run the country. When President Roxas died in 1948, Quirino became President. He had to help the Philippines recover after World War II and build a new nation.   As President, Quirino worked hard to rebuild the Philippin...
National Children's Month 2025: Protecting Our Kids   Every year, we celebrate National Children's Month to remember how important it is to keep our children safe. This year's theme, "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!"—which means "End Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM): Fight for the Safety and Rights of Children!"—tells us we need to stop online dangers that hurt our kids. While we enjoy seeing our children grow and learn, we must also face the fact that some people online want to harm them.   The government has a big job in keeping children safe and respecting their rights. They have made laws like the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and the Anti-Child Pornography Act to help protect kids. But just having laws isn't enough. We need to make sure these laws are used correctly and that we sto...

My Teacher, My Hero

Image
The 2025 Teacher’s Month theme, "My Teacher, My Hero," makes me happy. It says teachers are like heroes—even if they don’t wear capes. They work hard every day to help us learn and grow. They stay late to help with homework, cheer when we do well, and never give up on us. This theme reminds everyone how special teachers are.   Saying "thank you" can be easy. A short note with kind words works. I could write, "Thank you for making math fun" or "I feel brave to speak up because of you." Teachers love knowing they made a difference.   Respect means listening and trying. When I pay attention in class, ask questions, and do my best, it shows I care about their work. Teachers spend hours planning lessons—so when I participate, I’m saying, "I value what you do."   Small gifts can make them smile. A drawing, a flower, or a homemade card shows I thought about them. Even a big "thank you" in front of the class can make their day.   Teac...

Second Quarter Reflection

The last three months have been a time of big learning and new discoveries for me. I've learned a lot more about how to manage projects, especially using methods that let us change things as we go. This means we work in small steps and always ask for feedback to make things better. I've also found some new and easy ways to look at project data. This helps me see how well our projects are doing and where we can make improvements. Working with different people from different backgrounds has shown me even more ways to solve problems. Everyone has different ideas, and it’s great to learn from them.   Of course, it wasn’t always easy. One of the biggest problems I faced was trying to handle too many projects at the same time. It felt like I was always rushing to meet deadlines, which made me feel stressed. Another challenge was when we had to change what we were doing in the middle of a project. This meant we had to be flexible and make quick decisions. Plus, our new computer sys...

Science and new ideas will be super important for our future. The Science Month theme reminds us that science can help us solve problems and make life better.   In the coming years, science will be even more a part of our lives. Like how we use phones and computers now - that's thanks to science! In the future, science can help us find new ways to get power, grow food, and stay healthy. It can also help us understand the world better, like how the weather is changing.   But everyone can help with science, not just scientists. If we support science education and get kids interested, we can all benefit. We also need to make sure science is used fairly and helps everyone.   If we use science the right way and work together, we can make a good future for all. Science can fix big problems, but we need to make sure it's used well. That's why celebrating science is so important! Climate Change and Community Resilience

Climate change is a big problem that's making life harder for many Filipinos. It's like the Earth is getting sick, and we're seeing more bad weather and changes in our surroundings.   One of the main reasons for this is that we're burning too much stuff like gas and coal. This puts a lot of bad stuff in the air that traps heat and makes the Earth warmer. This warming causes things like stronger typhoons, floods, and droughts.   These changes are really tough on Filipinos. Many people lose their homes and farms because of floods and typhoons. It's also getting harder to grow food because the weather is so unpredictable.   But even though things are hard, Filipinos are also very strong. We help each other out when disasters happen, and we're finding new ways to deal with the changing weather. For example, some farmers are planting different crops that can handle the heat and floods better.   To make things better, we need to stop burning so much gas and coal. We...
