National Children's Month 2025: Protecting Our Kids
Every year, we celebrate National Children's Month to remember how important it is to keep our children safe. This year's theme, "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!"—which means "End Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM): Fight for the Safety and Rights of Children!"—tells us we need to stop online dangers that hurt our kids. While we enjoy seeing our children grow and learn, we must also face the fact that some people online want to harm them.
The government has a big job in keeping children safe and respecting their rights. They have made laws like the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and the Anti-Child Pornography Act to help protect kids. But just having laws isn't enough. We need to make sure these laws are used correctly and that we stop bad things from happening in the first place.
I think the government is trying to protect our children, but there are things they can do better. They should spend more money on stopping online dangers, teach police and social workers how to find and help kids who are being hurt, and teach children, parents, and teachers how to stay safe online. Also, working with other countries and groups can help us do a better job of protecting our children.
In the end, keeping kids safe is everyone's job. If we all talk about these problems, teach our kids how to be safe, and work together, we can make sure every child is safe, happy, and able to do great things. National Children's Month is a reminder that we all need to stand up for our children and make their future bright and safe.
